OSR is a collection of my favorite adapted and original recipes—a collection that is ever-growing and hopefully evergreen with your comments and contributions. The adapted recipes that you find on this site are based on another kitchen craftsman’s genius—a professional chef, a cookbook author, a food show celeb, a fellow blogger, or a family member or friend. I celebrate and spread their genius with a touch of my own flavor or flair. I go a bit “off-script” (hence, the name) to make their recipes more healthy, more do-able, or simply more delicious (to me!). The original recipes that you find on this site are wholly my own—created and written without a guide, but often inspired by a combination of recipes, a memorable taste or culinary experience, or a whim turned ritual. Give them all a try and tell me what off-script adjustments you make.
That’s me the morning after Thanksgiving making homemade bagels for my family—a proud moment! Hopefully, you get to know me through my posts and recipes, but here’s an important tidbit to get the ball rolling…I’m a food mag and media junkie. Yup, I’ll admit it. It’s what I devour on long car trips, consume while working-out, and can’t resist on the racks of grocery store check-out lanes. I read recipes like some folks read poetry or People® magazine. Between the lines of a good recipe, I find inspiration to create.
